The involuntary or intentional passage of feces into clothing or other inappropriate places by a child 4–18 years of age:
Age may be chronologic or developmental.
Absence of underlying organic process explaining these symptoms
At least 1 event per month for 3 months
Classified into functional constipation (retentive encopresis) and functional nonretentive fecal incontinence (FNRFI): Both cause fecal incontinence, but no constipation in FNRFI. Functional constipation more common.

Gastrointestinal and vasomotor symptoms resulting from rapid gastric emptying and delivery of large amounts of hyperosmolar content into the small intestine. Usually occurs following gastric and esophageal surgery (gastrectomy, vagotomy, pyloroplasty, esophagectomy, Nissen fundoplication, or gastric bypass procedures).
